Avaza's screens are available in English and, in beta, in eight more languages: French, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin America), German, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Italian and Dutch. Avaza doesn't switch language by itself: each person chooses their own, or it's set for them when they're invited or edited under Contacts.

These languages are in beta: translations are still being reviewed, and some areas (billing, invoices and emails) stay in English until their translations are approved.

Choose your language

  1. Click your profile picture at the top right and choose User Profile.
  2. On the Preferences tab, under Regional, choose a Language. Languages in beta are marked (Beta), for example Deutsch (Beta).
  3. Click Save changes.

Automatic follows your browser's language only for languages that are fully released. All eight are in beta for now, so Automatic means English.

The Avaza Chat apps for phones and computers show the same chat as the web app, so they use your language too, with the same beta limits.

The language you choose changes the words, not the formats: dates and numbers keep following your browser or computer settings. See managing your user profile.

Set the language for someone else

When you invite or edit a team member or a contact under Contacts, choose their Language. Avaza uses it for their invitation and emails, and they can change it when they accept the invitation, or later in their profile.

The account's default language

Administrators and Finance Managers can set the Default language in Settings › General. Avaza uses it for invitations and emails to team members and contacts who haven't chosen their own language and haven't signed in yet. Accounts start with English. If you choose a language when you sign up for Avaza, it becomes your language and your new account's default. See general settings.

What stays in English

  • Your own data: project and task names, task statuses, categories, custom fields, and the wording of your own templates and emails. Avaza never translates these.
  • The All in One, Timesheets and Expenses mobile apps.
  • Legal documents, such as the terms of service.
  • The Avaza website and this help centre.
  • During the beta: the subscription and billing pages, invoice, estimate, bill, credit note and payment wording, and the emails Avaza sends, such as task notifications, invitations, approvals and reminders.

Invoices, estimates and credit notes

Each invoice template has Override Invoice Labels on its Layout tab. Type your own text for the wording your customers see: the title, labels such as Date Issued and Due Date, column headings, totals, the statuses customers see, and the buttons and links in invoice emails. Estimates and credit notes have their own labels there too. Only Administrators and Finance Managers can edit templates.

Templates also have a Document language, for the language customers see on the online view, payment pages and email buttons. That wording is still being reviewed during the beta, so documents show English for now, with your own label overrides. To word invoices in another language today, use Override Invoice Labels.

If you invoice in more than one language, add a template for each one. Then choose the template on each invoice or estimate, or set it as a customer's default template. See invoice and estimate templates.

Dates and numbers

There's no date format setting, and the language you choose for Avaza doesn't change formats. On an invoice's web view and PDF, dates and the separators in amounts follow the language of the reader's browser. With French, for example, a date reads 18 septembre 2026. The same language sets the thousands and decimal separators, for example 1,000.50 or 1.000,50. See changing the date format.

Dates that placeholders such as [Issue Date] add to emails always use the English short form, for example 18-Sep-2026.

Emails to your customers

The emails Avaza sends your customers, such as the invoice and estimate emails and reminders, come from templates in Settings › Email Templates. You can rewrite their subject and text in your own language. See email templates.
